Featured Projects
Centennial Park Aquatic Center – Park Ridge, IL
The Park Ridge Park District employed Bono Consulting to prepare the site engineering plans and provide construction observations for the Centennial Park Aquatic Center. The renovations included removing the existing pools to construct a new aquatic center with a lap pool, wading pool, and leisure pool. They also planned to expand the parking lot, as the existing area was insufficient for the anticipated usage. The increased impervious area required the construction of two dry bottom detention ponds for stormwater detention. We decided to place one of the ponds at the base of a sledding hill, so the slope of the hill was extended into the bottom of the detention area, thereby making the sledding hill two feet higher! Construction has been completed, and the park is usable all year long for swimming in the summer and sledding in the winter. Civil Engineering Illinois | Storm Water Management Engineering
Brunner Family and Fox River Shores Forest Preserve – Kane County, IL
Bono Consulting helped design and permit a new 3-mile trail through Brunner Family and Fox River Shores Forest Preserves, along with a new parking lot and trailhead. We had the opportunity to work with the forest preserve staff to keep construction and permit costs at a minimum while also keeping the environmental impact low. We designed the path to limit floodway, floodplain, and wetland impacts with those associated costs. To save construction costs and limit materials used, we utilized existing stream crossings. We also coordinated with the Longmeadow Parkway project to avoid touching any archeological areas. Overall, the project was a success and is open to the public. Civil Engineering Illinois
