Lou Malnati’s Elk Grove Village: Pavement Restoration
Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria in Elk Grove Village engaged Bono Consulting Civil Engineers to transform their parking lot into a smooth and safe access for their valued customers. Our primary challenge was clear: to identify the major areas of failure and design a stormwater management solution that would minimize the need for extensive pavement restoration.
Innovative Solutions for a Better Parking Experience
Elk Grove Village ordinances require stormwater detention for any significant repaving project. To meet this requirement, we conducted thorough evaluations, including obtaining several pavement cores to determine which areas of the parking lot could be milled and resurfaced versus those needing full-depth reconstruction.
Our solution included an infiltration stone trench under the parking lot, which is designed to manage stormwater by routing the outlet to a ditch line at the rear of the property.
Enhanced Accessibility and Safety
The project also included replacing the driveway along Joey Drive, along with curbs and gutters, to ensure a smooth and safe entry for all visitors. Bono Consulting performed construction inspections and the final as-built survey. During inspections, we monitored the construction of the infiltration system to confirm the design volume was per the permitted plans.
Today, visitors to Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria in Elk Grove Village can enjoy pulling easily into a well-maintained parking lot, making every visit a pleasant experience!
